Special Education Program Philosophy
Mild/Moderate Program
SSN (Significant Support Need) Program
The Special Education programs at Oak Grove Elementary operates under the assumption that learning is a fundamental element of the human condition. All people are learners. There is no disability that completely precludes learning. It is this fundamental belief that guides us as we work with students with the most significant educational support needs.
We provide a continuum of services ranging from intensive, one-on-one support, life skills training, and functional academic instruction, to small-group academics, to full support in the general education classroom. Students in the Level III program work toward Colorado Academic Standards, and they access the General Education Curriculum with accommodations and modifications as needed, given their individual strengths and needs.
Our goal is to establish and maintain a safe environment that encourages curiosity and self-discovery, while teaching societal rules and boundaries as well as academics that will lead to our students being accepted and valued as members of the school community.
